Reporting to: The Head of Operations

Summary: Overseeing Hotcam’s audio department, and devising, building and guaranteeing audio solutions for PSC, Systems and OB clients.

Working Hours: This role requires both in-house and on-location work in a supervisory capacity.

Overview

The Audio Guarantee is a senior hands-on technical leadership role, responsible for running Hotcam’s audio department both on location and in the warehouse. As the company’s lead audio specialist, they ensure that audio systems are designed, built, tested, and delivered to the highest professional standards across all stages of production.

This role blends practical field experience with structured warehouse management. The Audio Guarantee works closely with Project Managers and the Head of Operations to interpret client briefs, contribute technical insight, and oversee the preparation and timely delivery of bespoke audio solutions. They run their department, taking ownership of system design, cross-hire specifications, frequency planning and technical oversight for both small and large-scale TV productions, while also working with the Warehouse Operations teams to manage audio inventory, maintenance, and workflow standards.

Their dual presence across warehouse and field ensures Hotcam’s audio function is grounded in real-world production practice. The role requires strong collaboration with internal teams and the freelance sound community to maintain Hotcam’s reputation for excellence, responsiveness, and innovation.

The Audio Guarantee also line manages the Audio Engineers and Trainee Audio Technicians, leading the development of a cohesive and skilled team that can operate both in-house and on-site. Together, they form a mobile team capable of guaranteeing seamless audio and comms delivery across different projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, prep, and quality-control audio systems for a wide range of productions including multicam, reality, live and factual formats.
  • Interpret client briefs and contribute to planning conversations with Project Managers and the Head of Operations.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and broadcast audio standards.
  • Mentorship, training and management of junior staff in warehouse prep, troubleshooting, and on-location technique.
  • Work with the Warehouse Operations team to ensure the timely maintenance and repair of audio equipment, working closely with Hotcam's Head of Engineering.
  • Work with the Audio Team to ensure that the audio inventory is well-maintained, up-to-date, and accurately tracked
  • Produce technical documentation, schematics and rigging diagrams as required.
  • Support warehouse teams in prepping, testing, and packing audio kits.
  • Participate in project planning and production meetings to align on timelines and delivery requirements.
  • Lead frequency planning and wireless coordination for complex production environments.
  • Supervise and contribute to planning of rig and derig operations, ensuring consistent audio performance, whether analogue, MADI or Dante.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and keep Hotcam ahead of the curve.
  • Create checklists and processes to maintain high standards in audio workflows.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external sound recordists, supervisors, suppliers, and frequency coordinators.
  • Collaborate on procurement and equipment strategy to align with evolving client and company needs.
  • Deliver client-specific audio and comms solutions with professionalism, clarity, and attention to detail.
